Home-grown talents
In September 2001, DLSU-D athletes won medals in the
areas of relay, judo, and triple jump in the Southeast Asian
Games held in Malaysia. Joebert Delicano, a Personnel
Management student, clinched the gold medal in the long
jump event of the International Open Track and Field
Competition held in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam in July 2001.
The university also won gold medals in track and field, pole
vault, and javelin throw during the national PRISAA held in
Cebu on April 20-26, 2002.

At par with technology
DLSU-D realized the essential benefits of IT in education—
access to university information, dial-up and wireless
Internet access, tools in building courseware and
information system, among others.

Value-based programs
In 2002, the Philippine Accrediting Association of Schools,
Colleges and Universities (PAASCU) has granted the
colleges of Liberal Arts, Science, Education and Business
Administration Level 2 re-accreditation for a period of five
years. Along with this, the Computer Science program was
granted initial accreditation for three years.

Life-giving hope
DLSU-D’s Balik-aral Program has been awarded Regional
Grand Prize Winner in the 1999 Nationwide Search for the
Most Outstanding School Project Undertaken through
Volunteerism. The program was cited based on its
relevance, beneficiaries, sustainability and creativity.
