Agri coordinator speaks at prov’l agri-aqua seminar

Integrated Farm Coordinator Dr. Epifania Anfone presented
An Overview of the Status of the Agriculture and
Aquaculture Business Sectors in Cavite during the 1st Gov.
Ayong S. Maliksi “ISDABEST” Program held at the Provincial
Capitol Heroes Hall and Park in Trece Martires City,
October 6.

Farmers, agriculturists, fisherfolk, students, industry and
private sector businessmen, feed millers and
representatives from different sectors listened to Anfone
as she discussed that the province is still predominantly
agricultural, thus the potential to develop the agribusiness
sector is relatively high. She showed statistics of
production compared to the nutritional requirements of the
province that illustrated how to maximize Cavite’s
resources to make the province more self-sufficient in
terms of agriculture and aquaculture production. She
challenged those present to take this as an opportunity to
actively pursue agribusiness ventures.

Other speakers during this weeklong observance of Fish
Conservation Week include Malcolm Sarmiento Jr., director
of the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources, as well
as aquaculture specialists Dr. Melchor Tayamen and Maria
Teresa Mutya. The event was part of the program of the
governor’s office called Alternatibong Solusyon: Maliksing
Pangkabuhayan.

Dr. Anfone is also set to talk about the rewards of a
career in agribusiness during the career seminar at the
Infant Jesus Academy in Silang, Cavite, on October 24.
