All set for UNIGAMES 2003

As the host of the first ever National University Games
(UNIGAMES) to be held in Luzon, DLSU-D fast tracks the
preparations in time for the October 22-29 play date.

More than 2,000 athletes from 45 participating schools
from all over the country will compete in events such as
basketball, volleyball, football, athletics, swimming, table
tennis, lawn tennis, badminton, taekwondo, and chess.

Just in time to accommodate the events, the renovated
Palaruang La Salle and the completed Grandstand will be
blessed on October 20. Aside from the DLSU-D Sports
Complex, the games will also be held at the Philippine
Christian University-Dasmariñas, Dasmariñas National High
School, First Cavite Industrial Estate, Town and Country
Dasmariñas, and The Orchard.

However, UNIGAMES is not only competitive games,
participants will also take part in activities that will give
them a chance to socialize outside the sports arena. They
could shop at the trade fair which features different
Cavite products. A fellowship night is also in store for
officials, participants and guests on October 24. Dubbed
“A Night With U”, the affair will also be a chance to thank
event sponsors such as Globe Telecom, SMART
Communications, Inc., SUN Cellular, and ACCEL Sports
Apparel, among others.

On October 29, the closing ceremonies, which will be held
at the Palaruang La Salle, will begin with a mass. The
highlight of the night is the awarding ceremony where the
best athletes and delegation will be feted.
