CSC, LLP sponsor first
Cavite nat’l Lit confab

The Cavite Studies Center (CSC) in association with the
Linangan ng Literatura ng Pilipinas (LLP) will sponsor the
first Cavite National Conference on Teaching Literature
and Literary Theories on October 16 -17 at the
Tanghalang Julian Felipe.

Guest speakers include some of the country’s finest
teachers, writers and critics such as Professor Ferdinand
Lopez and Dr. Florentino Hornedo from the University of
Santo Tomas, Dr. Vivencio Jose, Dr. Ma. Crisanta Nelmida-
Flores, Dr. Lily Rose Tope, Dr. Thelma Arambulo and
Professor Jimmuel Naval from the University of the
Philippines. Dr. Angelito Santos, president of the Philippine
Folklore Society, Dr. Elmer Ordoñez of the National
Commission for Culture and the Arts and Professor Romeo
Dizon, vice dean of the Manila Times School of Journalism
are also resource speakers.

The speakers will discuss the meaning, importance and
implications of local Literature in national development,
critical theory and practice in the teaching of local
Literature, teaching ASEAN Literature, teaching World
Literature, and application of literary theories, among
others.

Further, the conference will provide a venue for addressing
the challenges of teaching Literature to a digital
generation batch of learners.

Participants from all over the country include Literature
teachers, graduate students, creative writers, translators
and critics. Dr. Efren Abueg, DLSU-D resident writer and
LLP president, also serves as conference director.
