LCDC hosts workshop for Sta. Mercedes dev’t

The Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC)
hosted a planning workshop for the development of
Barangay Sta. Mercedes, one of DLSU-D’s partner
communities, November 7 at the Feliciano Cabuco Viewing
Room of the Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo.

The workshop was participated by the members of the
Brgy. Sta Mercedes Development Council (BSMDC), which
is composed of organizations and institutions that provide
services to the said community such as the Philippine Rural
Reconstruction Movement, World Vision–Shoreline,
Nagkakaisang Maliliit na Mangingisda ng Cavite, Samahan
ng Maliliit na Mangingisda ng Sta. Mercedes–Patungan,
University of Sto. Tomas and the Office of the Provincial
Governor of Cavite.

BSMDC seeks to unite all efforts in establishing a
partnership among the different stakeholders with regard to
community development projects in Sta. Mercedes. This is
to ensure the effective implementation of a holistic
development program that would help improve the quality
of life in the barangay.

Barangay Sta Mercedes, which is located in Maragondon,
Cavite, is a semi-island community with a population of 300
households. Hatid Aral is one of the development programs
implemented by the university in the said barangay.
