Acctg stude wins two bronze in nat’l quiz bee


DLSU-D’s Julius Miranda, a third year BS Accountancy
student, brought home two bronze medals and a plaque for
winning in two recently concluded national accounting quiz
competitions held during the 2003 National Federation of
Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants (NFJPIA) Midyear
Convention at Club Panoly in Boracay, October 25-28.

Miranda, who represented Region IV in the 3rd NFJPIA-
SyCip Gorres Velayo and Co. Cup (National Level), ranked
3rd among contestants from the different regions of the
country.

Moreover, Miranda took the challenge as he decided to join
the quiz show on New Statement of Financial Accounting
Standards on the day of the contest. He managed to
survive the elimination round and even won another bronze
medal.

Miranda, who also won two Accountancy Board Review
scholarships, is the only contestant who became finalist in
both quiz events. Similarly, he is the sole junior student
among the contestants.

Accountancy Department Chair Belinda Narvaez shares,
“With Miranda’s proficiency in accounting, I find him a
potential board topnotcher.”
