To further improve I-net connection
ITC acquires UPS system from Taiwan

The Information Technology Center (ITC) has taken a step
toward solving the problem of internet connection in the
university.

According to Marck Campos, IT Operations head, the
university will already be enjoying the services of an online
unlimited power supply (UPS) by January. This equipment,
imported from Taiwan, shall see to it that whenever power
failure occurs, there will be enough time for all the
computers to be properly shutdown. This will avoid the
problem of consuming more time in reestablishing the
internet connection, usually caused by units being
improperly shutdown.

Campos clarified that the problem comes from the fact that
the facilities in the six Mariano Alvarez Hall (MAH)
classrooms where ITC is currently housed can no longer
accommodate the load of electricity being used by the
center. This explains the frequent and abrupt power failure
in MAH. Through the online UPS, reestablishing internet
connection would not only be faster but computer
equipment will be saved from being damaged.

Meanwhile, ITC is conducting studies on how to resolve the
current power impasse in MAH.
