How green really is La Salle?
Dark Green Schools Program visits DLSU-D campus

Light Green, Green, Dark Green. These are the three accreditation status that the Dark Green School Programs (DGS) give its member institutions.

DGS is a project of the Environment Education Network of the Philippines through the Commission on Higher Education to integrate environmental education in all functions of both higher education institutions, private or state-managed. It aims to encourage institutions to include environmental science as a course in their various degree program offerings, integrate environmental science principles in all offered courses, and sustain environmental education in every school through the implementation of projects that restore the integrity of the environment.

A member of the DGS does not only comply to the requirements but also practice and implement the integration of environmental education in all aspects of the school’s operations.

DGS Accreditors is visiting the DLSU-D campus on Sept. 8-10. They will be assessing the University in five different areas: policy, administration and finance, academics, outreach/extension program, and production. Each area will be rated in a scale of 1 to 5, with 5 as the highest and
1 as the lowest. A Candidate Status will be given to member institutions who receive a rating of 2 and below, Light Green for a rating of 2.01-3.00, Green for 3.01-4.00, and Dark Green for 4.01-5.00.

DGS Accreditors who will be visiting the University are Dr. Angelina Galang and Jillian Alexis Manlangit from Miriam College, Dr. S.R. Luzette Teruel from University of the Philippines-Visayas, Dr. Nicomedes Briones from University of the Philippines-Los Baños, and Engr. Gilberto Venzuela from South Luzon State University.
