DLSU-D
boosts acad and cultural ties
MOA with Korea’s Busan College inked
Faculty
and student exchanges, co-sponsorship of international conferences,
and exchange of educational materials and research are the salient points
of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) entered into by Busan
Women’s College (BWC) and DLSU-D.
The MOA, which was facilitated by the Institutional Linkages Office
and the Language Learning Center (LLC), has already brought in two batches
of Korean students in DLSU-D to undergo intensive training in language
proficiency. The University, on the other hand, had Vice Chancellor
for Mission, External Affairs, and Development Myrna Ramos visiting
the BWC last June 30-July 3 to meet with its key administrators and
see the improvement projects it has been undertaking.
When asked about the visit, Dr. Ramos said that DLSU-D can definitely
learn from BWC’s programs for productive women professional and
women working toward intellectual maturity and awareness. She also stressed
that [our own] faculty and students could benefit from BWC’s broad
spectrum of academic subject, fully equipped laboratories, and renowned
faculty members.
Also known as Pusan Women’s College, BWC was established in 1954
as a member of Hye Hwa Foundation and is now recognized as one of the
nation’s eldest junior colleges for women education. To sustain
its position as the leading institution in women education, it has been
undergoing expansion of the campus, construction of new classroom buildings,
and increase of academic programs offered.
Currently, there are 27 BWC students at DLSU-D undergoing a series of
language classes in English. Fifteen language specialists from the Languages
and Literature Department are handling the group.
