Outreach Programs

Balik-Aral Program

The Balik-Aral Program (BAP) is a non-formal educational outreach program of DLSU-D offered by the College of Education (COE). It is intended for the poor and unattended sectors of youth and adults in the Dasmariñas Bagong Bayan (DBB) relocation areas and environs. The BAP students go to the university from Monday to Friday, 4:00p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to attend classes.

The specific objectives of the BAP are as follows:

•  to respond to the educational needs of the underprivileged adults and out-of-school youth who were not able to study at an earlier age or those who were not in school for quite some time;
•  to promote and imbibe Christian values and the dignity of work;
•  to develop students who believe in themselves, and who are positive about their outlook in life; and
•  to develop well-rounded individuals who live the Gospel and show concern for others as formed by their Lasallian heritage.

KASAKA

Considering the great need for catechists in Dasmariñas and DLSU-D's commitment to evangelization in the Diocese of Imus, the RED in coordination with the COE, hopes to:

•  lead students into an awareness on the need of the community for evangelization in elementary and high schools.
•  prepare the students, through seminars, to hold catechism classes for both public and non-sectarian private schools.
•  involve COE students in the actual catechism to be credited in a 3-unit subject entitled Community Integration
•  lead volunteers to value catechism in public schools as their way of sharing the mission of St. La Salle to touch the lives of the youth.
