General Retention policy For Engineering and Architecture Students
GOOD STATUS
· A student is in a good status if he passed all academic subjects including PE, NSTP and other institutional subject requirements.
WARNING STATUS
· Students will be placed under the warning status if he/she failed in two major subjects.
Note: Major subjects include all engineering mathematics, sciences and allied engineering subjects.
However, a student under WARNING STATUS may regain GOOD status provided that he will pass all his/her enrolled subjects in the succeeding semester with a GPA of at least 1.50.
PROBATIONARY STATUS
· Students will be placed under probationary status if he/she:
a. Failed in any academic subject after obtaining a WARNING STATUS during the previous semester.
b. Failed three academic subjects.
Note: If the student is under probationary status, he/she may only be allowed to take a maximum of 18 units.
However, a student under PROBATIONARY STATUS may regain GOOD status provided that he will pass all his/her enrolled subjects in the succeeding semester with a GPA of at least 2.25 and he may be classified under the warning status if he/she only passed all the subjects enrolled in the succeeding semester.
FINAL PROBATIONARY STATUS
· Students will be placed under final probationary status if he/she:
a. Failed in any academic subject after obtaining a PROBATIONARY STATUS during the previous semester.
b. Failed more than 12 units of his total number of units enrolled in a particular semester.
c. Failed two academic subjects after obtaining a WARNING STATUS.
Note: If the student is under final probationary status, he/she may only be allowed to take a maximum of 15 units.
However, a student under FINAL PROBATIONARY STATUS may regain GOOD STATUS provided that he will pass all his/her enrolled subjects in the succeeding semester with a GPA of at least 2.75 and he may be classified under the WARNING STATUS if he passed all his subjects in the succeeding semester with a GPA of 2.25. PROBATIONARY STATUS is given if he only passed all the subjects enrolled in the succeeding semester.
DISMISSAL STATUS (Collegiate Level)
· Students will be dismissed to his/her respective course if he/she:
a. Failed in any academic subject after obtaining a FINAL PROBATIONARY STATUS during the previous semester.
b. Failed more than 15 units of his/her total number of units enrolled in a particular semester.
c. Failed two academic subjects after obtaining a PROBATIONARY STATUS.
DISMISSAL STATUS (Institutional Level)
· Students will be dismissed from the university if he/she has an accumulated failure of 24 units.
NSTP and PE UNITS COMPLETION
· Students are required to complete PE & NSTP during their first two years in their respective course.
· Students may not be allowed to take in advance other GE subjects during their third year unless they have taken PE and NSTP.
QUALIFYING EXAMINATION
· All incoming third year Engineering and Architecture students are required to take the qualifying examination before they can enroll on their third year.
STANDARD POLICY AND REQUIREMENTS FOR SHIFTEES AND TRANSFEREES
A shiftee/transferee from other colleges and/or universities may be qualified for admission to any of the program offered by the Engineering Department of the College of Engineering and Technology provided that:
· There is an available slot.
· He is of good moral character.
· He has not taken more than 50% of the total number of units of his respective course from another college or university.
· He should have at least a GPA of 1.75 or its equivalent from other universities.
· He should pass the interview and the qualifying examination conducted by the respective program coordinator.
· He should be placed under the PROBATIONARY STATUS for one year. A waiver provided by the CET should be signed by the student and his/her guardians prior to enrolment.
CREDITING OF SUBJECTS
· All major subjects taken from other universities with the same number of units and description with the program offered by CET will be credited provided that the university from which they have enrolled to is a Level 2 accredited school or has its equivalent.
· Major subjects taken from a non-level 2 accredited schools will be credited only if the transferee passed the verifying examination given by respective program coordinator for each major subject to be credited.
LEAVE OF ABSENCE
A student who may not be able to enroll in the current semester should file a leave of absence with the office of the College of Engineering and Technology. The application for LOA must be endorsed to the respective program coordinator and the Engineering Department Chair by the respective adviser.
A student who failed to file a leave of absence will be given PROBATIONARY STATUS for one year upon his return . |
