Santarin, Aurora. 2005. Sustainability and operational efficiency of the selected microfinance institutions in CALABARZON.
The research deals with the study of the sustainability and operational efficiency of selected microfinance institutions (MFIs) in Cavite , Laguna, Batangas, Rizal and Quezon (CALABARZON) which were taken from the listing of the Microfinance Council of the Philippines of the year 2003. The respondents involved were nine rural banks, four cooperatives and three NGOs. The primary tool used in data gathering was a self-made questionnaire, supplemented by interviews. Statistical inferences were derived by using the percentage, t-test and the f-test (or One-way ANOVA) to determine the significant differences. The 0.05 level of the significance was used as a reference in rejecting or accepting the hypotheses.
As a whole, the sustainability and operational efficiency of the selected MFIs in CALABARZON differed in terms of outreach, sustainability and operational efficiency. All the selected MFIs showed satisfactory performance in all levels of their operations.
The majority of the clients were women and the common methodology and technology used was Grameen Bank Model. The sari-sari store was the most borrowers' business served by these selected MFIs. The sari-sari store was the easiest way to generate income because of the industrialization, limited transfer of technology in agriculture, modern ways of livings and concomitant woes of the people living in the CALABARZON.
Among the selected MFIs, 19 per cent used their own sources of funds and the rest received grants and loans from affiliating institutions. There were 55 per cent of the MFIs affiliated with Peoples Credit and Finance Corporation PCFC and 28 per cent from Land Bank of the Philippines (LBP).
The selected MFIs in CALABARZON satisfactorily served their clients well. The clients served by the selected MFIs reached the grassroots areas in the CALABARZON.
Corpuz, Crispina R. 2005. Critical competencies of human resource leaders from the selected electronic companies at Cavite Export Processing Zone and their strategic impact to the organization.
The focus of the traditional role of human resource has changed drastically from merely providing services to integrating human resource into organizational business planning. Human resource professionals who are managers and supervisors must now take on the emerging roles of the business partner, change agent and leader in new organizational structures different from the past. Their challenge is now more daunting because while continuing the day to day operation of human resource, they have to try to model the new or expected competencies.
This study aimed to identify the critical competencies of the HR leaders from the electronics companies at CEPZA for the year 2004-2005 and then to determine how these identified competencies impact the organization where they serve.
This study utilized the descriptive research design coupled with correlational research design. Descriptive research design was used to capture the critical competencies of the HR leaders in selected companies. The design also focused on describing the HR leaders personal and work profile. Arithmetic mean was used to summarize the data collected about the HR competencies in terms of their measures of the central tendency. Pearson's Rho or correlation efficient was used to measure the strength of association or relationship between competencies of the HR leaders and the organizational performance.
Human resource leaders advocating the new roles and competencies for human resource, seeking and sometimes finding the elusive seat at the table, orchestrating the human resource transformation are setting the course for the future of the human resource profession. The issue now is whether the present human resource leadership has the competencies to meet all these challenges. Are companies doing what is required of them to help human resource leadership meet these challenges?
Based on past experiences, managers would be more willing to bring human resource "to the table" once human resource professionals in the eyes of the managers are those who serve in the role of the business partner and change agent by providing a variety of options and solutions. As change agent, they would be called upon not only to design a new human resource systems but also to facilitate and manage the change process. Knowing that these changes are necessary is a major step on the road to transforming HR. To begin moving forward, companies need to know where they stand in terms of the four necessary human resource competencies required for organizational effectiveness. Competency gaps should be identified to prepare the human resource in meeting the challenges of the dynamic society.
On the basis of the foregoing findings and conclusions, the following recommendations are given: HR leaders must establish measurement systems to reflect contributions; The HR plan must be linked to the strategic plan of the company; Change the mindset by focusing on profit enhancement through people; Every HR professional should take a course in finance or accounting to be able to equate as many HR processes to the financial objectives of the firm as possible; And finally, research agencies like the University Faculty Research Office (UFRO) of the De La Salle University - Dasmariñas should establish tie ups with firms included in the study so researchers would not have a hard time getting the data they need.
Orcullo, Norberto A. 2005. Instructional materials in eCommerce/eBusiness [MNGT413].
There are a number of books and publications now available in the area of eCommerce/eBusiness. However, all the books now in the domestic market are foreign-authored hence, their contents are somehow too technical, broad and advanced enough for neophytes in the era of the information age and the so-called knowledge economy. This scenario has motivated the author to undertake research and writing endeavors if only to produce a localized learning material simple enough for college students and the mature learners to understand the and appreciate the basics of eCommerce/eBusiness among local companies. These learning modules are really meant to be introductory and practitioners are urged to consult the reference books cited for more details.
These instructional materials come in 10 modules presented in MS Powerpoint format thus the convenience of presenting the materials using the LCD/DLP multimedia projection system. The slide presentation can be also printed into hard copies and transformed into transparencies for use with overhead projector.
Peña, Felda Olympia V. 2005. The comparative efficiency of the seven (7) colleges in De La Salle University - Dasmariñas from SY 2002-2003 using data envelopment analysis (DEA) .
Colleges are usually asked to justify the use of their resources in terms of producing meaningful activities or services to the students, faculty and community. In this paper, the comparative efficiency of the different colleges in DLSU-Dasmariñas was examined, using the non-parametric and deterministic analytical technique called Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA). It was computed for relative technical efficiency using the three inputs and three outputs for SY 2002-2003 to 2003-2004. It showed the best practices reference sets, as well as the technical efficiency score for each college. It also revealed the variables that influenced the efficiency of the different colleges in DLSU-Dasmariñas and figured out to what extent the variables have to be increased or decreased to achieve optimal efficiency.
Batu, Michael, B. 2005. Impact of previous to current aggregate consumption in the Philippines : 1946-2002*.
Modern macro econometric theories on consumption decisions of households are built upon the forward looking school of thought. While most empirical studies have focused on this, a few investigated the adaptive school particularly centered on the use of the Koyck distributed lag model to explain the role of past habits on economic decisions. Econometric specification, significant estimates were obtained and the estimated marginal propensities were not far from theoretical expectation. This paper found empirical evidence to support the view that income and consumption in the Philippines are co-integrated.
Servida, Nieves, G. 2005. The extent of volunteerism among academic teaching faculty members of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas.
Faculty members have a significant role not only to impart knowledge (teaching), but also to touch hearts and transform lives of the members of the community especially the students. Aside from teaching, student consultation and research, faculty members have also the role to be of service to the community.
The Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC) is the head unit of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas in implementing community development programs. It aims to respond to its mission of social transformation by implementing community outreach programs. In this light, this particular study ventured to determine if the academic teaching faculty members of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas are really extending community service which is reflected in their individual faculty schedule and to reveal the extent of their volunteerism.
Findings of the study revealed that community service or volunteerism is being internalized among faculty members of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas; that faculty members possess the inherent attitude towards volunteerism.
Majority of the faculty members who have earned their master's degrees were engaged in community service and the College of Science has a big participation in community service. Recommendations of the study include the following: 1) Encourage more faculty members especially from other colleges to engage in community service or to volunteer for the outreach programs of DLSU-D; 2) Motivate faculty members, who are on their probations status; have served the university for more than 5 years; who are single in status, and young in age to be active in community service; 3) Institute a program geared towards promoting and enhancing the idea of volunteerism so that more faculty members will be involved in the outreach programs of the university; 4) opportunities should be posted on bulletin boards - for who are interested to help but don't know how -where as mentioned by the respondents of the study.
Antig. Carmelyn, C. 2005. Practicum manual for business management students.
This manual presents a complete set of guidelines and procedures for all senior Business Management and Human Resource Development students enrolled in Mgnt 408P/HRDE409 (Management of Business Enterprise/Job Evaluation-practicum). It serves the purpose of providing the students the guide as to requirements to be met for them to complete the course and deserve a passing grade. Likewise, this manual also provides a basis for further discussion during the orientation by the Practicum professors with their respective classes.
Onuh, Willington, O. 2005. Economic growth and outward orientation: the case of the Philippines .
The central question examined in this paper was whether outward orientation measured in terms of total exports have direct links to the economic growth measured in terms of Gross Domestic Product growth in the Philippines for the period 1975-2003. The study employed the standard Cobb-Douglas production function augmented Dinkey-Fuller test for unit root and co-integration and Granger Causality Technique. The Granger causality technique rejects any causal relationship between total exports and economic growth at the 5 per cent significance level. However, causal relationship between total exports and capital formation cannot be rejected at the 10 per cent significance level.
The implication of this result is that despite the broad range of reforms pursued in the 1980s and the 1990s aimed at promoting exports, the economic growth experienced in the Philippines during the estimation period (1975-2003) was not driven by total exports.
Morta, Jacquelyn L. 2004. Job rotation practices of selected commercial banks in the Philippines .
To determine the effectiveness of job rotation among bank staff, the researcher investigated the pros and cons of the rotation program. The perceptions of HRD heads, branch heads and bank staff were also compared. This study used the following indicators to measure the effectiveness of job rotation including learning, motivation, teamwork, and productivity. The following indicators were also used to determine the problems encountered in the implementation of job rotation. These include expectation of incentives, slow pacing of work, adjustment problems, and proper training. Findings show that job rotation result to learning, teamwork, productivity, and an effective form of motivation among bank staff. Bank staff expects incentives during and after job rotation and experience adjustment problems in their new work environment and job itself, which sometimes result to slow pacing of work. Proper training is given to staffs before the start of the rotation program.
Corpuz, Crispina Rafol. 2004. Human resource management practices of selected cooperatives in the Calabarzon area.
The study focused on the investigation of the human resource management practices of selected cooperatives in the Calabarzon area, specifically, these are cooperatives belonging to the top 25 cooperatives in Region IV as defined by the Cooperatives Development Authority. It focused particularly on the procedures employed in the recruitment and selection of employees, training and development of employees and officers, their performance appraisal as well as their compensation and benefits provided by the cooperatives. The respondents came from the top 25 cooperatives of Region IV as defined by the Cooperative Development Authority (CDA) and listed in the 1998 Business Cooperative Directory. Cooperative success was measured in terms of the volume of transaction, assets and members' equity.
Calabarzon was chosen as the study area because of its national economic significance. Region IV where Calabarzon is included was 2 nd to NCR in terms of Gross Regional Domestic Product in 1999 at 1985 prices at Php 142.079M or 15.5 per cent of the total (2000 Philippine Statistical Yearbook. National Statistical Coordination Board, Oct. 2000)
Anfone, Epifania, D. 2004. The integrated review: agribusiness sector, province of Cavite .
The agribusiness sector is often equated with agriculture sector both by the government and the general public, especially in less developed countries like the Philippines . Starting 1995, agribusiness as a concept and sector already existed and based on experiences of advanced countries, agriculture is just a part of a broad agribusiness sector.
The study was made to present the picture of the agribusiness sector of Cavite for the period 2001-200, covering 20 municipalities and 3 cities. Several factors were considered as budget allocation for agribusiness-related activities, total area and portion designated as agricultural, annual income and expenses in each municipality/city, characteristics of the agribusiness complex in terms of players, business structure, and economic size classes of firms/farms.
Data were limited to those available or kept by the government offices and agencies of municipalities/cities and province. The study made use of simple statistics as mean and percentages in analyzing most data together with Pearson's R in determining the degree of association between variables: area designated to agriculture, annual income, annual expenses, amount allotted to agriculture, and value of agricultural products. All data were processed using the table top computer and computations were done using the SPSS.
Results of the study revealed that Cavite is still predominantly agricultural with 53.25 percent of land area designated as agricultural. The total amount allotted to agribusiness was only 2.41 per cent of the total expenses for all municipalities and cities. Such amount was used for personnel services, operating supplies and many include capital outlay for specific projects in some cases. Two sets of variables were found to be positively correlated; the area and value of agricultural products and the budget for agriculture and value of products. This confirms normal expectation that increase in budget and area would bring increase in value of products. Income and expense of municipality and city was negatively correlated, which calls for attention.
It is possible to present the players of the entire agribusiness by sub-sector. A total of 92,306 composed of individuals, farmers fishermen, and farms/firms were identified as directly involved in agribusiness on-farm and off-farm activities with major engaged in backyard or small scale operation. The agribusiness complex of the province viewed from the point of view of business structure or type of business ownership was dominated by the family-based/partnership business ventures (81.11 per cent) with crops producers as majority players who were also engaged in raising assorted livestock and poultry. Sari-sari stores were part of this group. There were players considered unclassified (17.79 per cent due to the limited data. The rests were identified as operating under corporate set up (0.76 per cent).
When viewed from economic size classes or value of products carried by the players, the animal products (52.8 per cent) dominated the complex with crops and fish sharing 34.83 per cent and 12.4 per cent respectively. Commercial operators contributed 48.04 per cent for animal and fish products, the source for bulk of crop products could not be classified accordingly. The backyard raisers despite their number contributed only 48.04 per cent of the products. Taken as a whole, crop products were further classified as both declining, expanding, and non-commercial while animal and fish products were categorized as expanding and non-commercial.
Sufficiency analysis revealed that Cavite generally was not able to achieve self-sufficiency level; except for coffee and hogs. For chicken, cattle, root crops, vegetables and rice, the province was way below sufficiency with vegetable having the lowest figure. Therefore, there is a wide opportunity for entrepreneurs on these products.
It is recommended for government in all levels to increase budgetary support, financial/technical assistance, and training to all players of agribusiness sector as well as closely monitor land utilization, and sufficiency performance, at the same time establish accurate records for the sector. Conscious efforts must be made to encourage family-based operators to keep their lands in the sector and aim to operate at high volume output. Lastly, it is recommended that a follow up research on the impact of industrialization to agribusiness be done.
Antig, Carmelyn C. 2004. A critical review of MGNT 408 P - Management Of Business Enterprises (Practicum) of the fourth year Business Management students of the College Of Business Administration of De La Salle University - Dasmarinas, school year 2002 - 2003.
The study aimed to make a review of the Practicum subject (MGNT 408P Management of Business Enterprises) for Management students in the College of Business Administration of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas. Considering that this subject has been part of the regular curriculum for Management students as a requirement for graduation, the study sought to find out the effectiveness of the subject in terms of the contributing factors such as: nature of business, nature of work assignment, number of direct supervisors, and position of the supervisor. Further, the researcher intended to find out the impact of the Practicum or OJT on the student's well-being.
The study revealed a remarkable number of positive points of trainees. Worth mentioning were the attitudes showing interest in the tasks assigned, display of initiative, working beyond what was required, not limiting only to what was given and showing maturity, responsibility and stability under pressure. Likewise, poise and self-confidence were evident. Neatness in appearance and good grooming were plus-factors of the students. In terms of behavior, majority of the supervisors had words of praise for almost everybody in terms of punctuality, courtesy, reliability, flexibility and trustworthiness. For job performance, it was very clear that instructions were understood based on the quality of output. The trainees had shown their openness to constructive criticisms and suggestions. One word that best described the trainees in general was the transformation that they had gone through brought about by the OJT experience.
Antig, Carmelyn C. 2004. The impact of the on-line lottery support funding program (LOTTO) on the quality of life of selected beneficiary barangays: the Laguna experience.
The Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office has the over-all vision of uplifting the quality of life of the Filipino people. How this vision can be achieved depends on how effective the fund generation system of the PCSO is worked out. For a fact, the PCSO generates funds thru sales from the traditional sweepstakes and from the lotto ticket. For every ticket sold at Php10.00, Php5.50 and Php3.00 for charity and Php1.50, for the operating fund. On top of this, there is a mandatory contribution of 2 per cent from the sales given to the province and 5 per cent to municipalities.
It is public knowledge that funds generated from the revenues of sweepstakes and lotto tickets are spent for health programs, medical assistance, and services and charities in national character. The study focused on these 2 per cent/5 per cent mandatory contribution allotted from the sales of lotto tickets and the application of these funding on the beneficiaries. Specifically, this study seeks to find out the impact of the on-line lottery support funding program (lotto) on the quality of life of selected beneficiary barangays in the province of Laguna .
Orcullo, N. A., Jr., Ramos, M. F., Servida, N. G. 2004. Research consciousness among full-time faculty members of De La Salle University - Dasmariñas.
In part, this research/study was developed and implemented with the hope that principles or framework set forth and outputs of the study can be of help to school administrators in developing research agenda and action plans. The findings of this study will surely be of help as basis for reexamining the university's policy on research and in assessing the effectiveness and efficiency of the research program in general.
De Los Reyes, Venancio, R., Mendoza, Maynardo, L. 2004. Transit advertising in the Philippines
Mobile transit advertising is an old concept that is slowly catching up in the Philippines . Less than ten years ago, back when a 2-hour commute from one end of Metro Manila to another was unheard of, advertisements in buses and other public utility vehicles were rendered ineffective. The vehicles fly past and pedestrians hardly notice what are emblazoned on the vehicles. In the mid-90's, massive constructions projects along the main thoroughfares slowed down the flow of vehicles. The only way to get to where you intended to be is to use side roads, which are only available to taxis and private vehicles. This resulted in the worst traffic jams.
Transit advertising has been getting the lowest rating among the various advertising media. As a result, it has been allocated the smallest portions of companies' advertising budgets. There are various vehicles used in the Philippine transit advertising: the cariton, the caritela, or calesa, tricycles or pedicabs, jeepneys, taxis, public utility buses, trains (including the Light Rail Transit and Metro Rail Transit), trucks and buses (exclusively used for transit advertising), delivery vans, shuttle buses and school buses. Transit advertising used in the Philippines generally use the following media: small stickers, and advertisers' promos, sun visors, and sun shields (sometimes given away without additional compensation to the owner of the vehicle), jeepney tire covers, garbage cans aboard jeepneys, signage on jeepneys, buntings inside buses, tax, ads, wrap-around advertising, back and side advertising in buses, tickets and fare cards. Currently, agencies or advertisers work out deals with individual transport owner, hence rates very. For the medium to prosper, transit advertising companies need to get their act together, and work with transport owners and organizations. There should be a conscious effort on the part of the transport owners to maintain the cleanliness of their units, to ensure their drivers are neat and are psychologically able to tolerate the traffic jams that have become standard fare in the streets of Metro Manila, hence avoid accidents which are the bane of advertisers.
On the part of the government, the LTFRB had liberalized transit advertising, giving vehicle operators as much latitude as they can in the use of advertising media, provided that they do not cover the trade name, the license plate number and body number of the vehicle, nor make it difficult for the riding public to identify the bus, jeepney, or taxi. However, there is a need to further improve roads and the traffic situation, or those vehicles with transit ads start resemble billboards, stationary and an eye sore.
Orcullo, N. A., Anfone, E.D., Servida, N. G., Hilario, E. 2003. Smoked fish (tinapa) industry of Cavite province and proposed Cavite tinapa industry development project.
This report is a two-volume document prepared by a team of faculty members from DLSU-D and TUP-C for the Office of Economic Opportunities, Office of the Provincial Governor, Province of Cavite . It contains the industry study and business plan developed out of the recommendations made in the industry study. Moreover, this document is meant to serve as a business plan for the establishment of a private sector-led organization (corporation or cooperative) designed to catalyze the improvement of the tinapa industry in Cavite towards long-term growth of the industry and to provide a venue for improving the lot of tinapa processors in the province as well as maximize the overall contribution of the sector in socio-economic development.
Chavez, Gloria, S. 2003. Organizational culture of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas.
Using the values approach in determining culture types perceived by the members of the De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, this study was conducted among faculty members, staff and administrators of DLSU-D in the school year 2001-2002.
Using the descriptive and corelational research designs, a survey was conducted among 316 faculty, staff and administrators from December 2001 to February 2002. The statistical tools used for analysis of the data included: means and percentage to describe the profile of the respondents, as well as perceived organizational culture characteristics. The Friedman test on ranking was also used to determine mean ranking of culture types and t-test and one way ANOVA were used to determine the relationship.
Findings revealed that adaptability culture had the highest mean (4.29) followed by the achievement culture (4.21). The bureaucratic culture had a mean of 4.08. using the Friedman test on mean ran, adaptability and achievement culture were ranked second. Adaptability and achievement culture had a consistent high means even when respondents were classified by gender, age, civil, educational attainment, position, length of service and employment history. That the respondents chose adaptability culture as the culture with the highest mean implies that the school is perceived as encouraging the values of creativity, augmentation, initiative, risk-taking and responsiveness to students and parents. That it was also perceived as having an achievement culture indicative of the fact that the school is perceived as having leaders with a clear vision and where the leaders focus on the achievement of specific targets known to everyone and where people willing to work beyond office hours to finish their tasks at hand.
Anfone, Epifania, D. 2002. The economics of single-and-wide planting distance of rice: De La Salle University-Dasmariñas experience.
Rice is one of the most commonly grown crops in our country with established technology being followed anywhere in the world. But then, most of the farmers are still traditional in their ways. However, literatures that present success experiences of farmers following non-traditional methods like the single-and-wide planting distance inspired this study.
The main purpose of the study is to test the adaptability of single-and-wide planting distance in terms of number of tillers and productive panicles per hill, filled grains per panicle, and yield using three varieties of rice as well as to determine the benefits derived from it.
The study made use of experimental approach with two treatments: Treatment one (T 1 ), the control-using the traditional planting distance of 20 x 20 cm with three seedlings per hill; and Treatment 2 (T 2 ), the experimental - the single seedling per hill and planting distance of 10 x 40 cm. There were three replications per treatment using PSBRc78, PSBRc80, and PSBRc82, for each replication with plots measuring 4 x 5 m.
The study was done at the Integrated Farm Laboratory of De La Salle University-Dasmariñas for two cropping cycles. Data were gathered by selecting 50 hills randomly from each plot on the identified variables. All data processed using a table top computer were done using the SPSS. Two-Way ANOVA was used to test significance level of the number of tillers and panicles as well as filled grains, while t Test was used for the yield and partial budget for the economic analysis.
Results of the study revealed that generally, the experimental plots had higher significant difference on the yield between T1 and T2. PSBRc80 is the most adaptable variety in the locality using the single-and-wide planting distance technique. It has the highest numbers of tillers, productive panicles, filled grains and yield. The benefits derived from single-and-wide planting of rice lie on the reduced seed cost while it has not been established that it is more profitable. Hence, it is recommended that same research with more trials be done in other areas utilizing actual field or commercial sizes using the same and other varieties.
Madlansacay, Zenia M., Remulla, Monina A. 1997. Manual in typewriting/ keyboarding I.
Manual in Typewritng Keyboarding I is designed for non-secretarial students, to develop skills in manipulating the typewriter. It teaches the students to learn different techniques of basic typing and utilize these skills and techniques in the production of accurate reports and mailable correspondences.
Corleto, Dwight T., Santarin, Aurora DC., Servida, Nieves G. 1994. Procedural manual in business mathematics for secretarial students.
Arithmetic manipulation is the same in concept with a manipulation of a typewriter wherein basic knowledge of fundamental operation is a must for a student to be able to compute problems specifically with numbers.
The manual is basically student-oriented in which case the basic fundamental operations in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division are discussed thoroughly. Mastery of the fundamental processes in mathematics as well as applications of these processes in normal life situations are components of this manual.
Hernandez , Virginia L., Cynthia D. Tan. [1993] . Institutional research manual, rev. ed.
With the ultimate aim of providing basic guidelines and principles in the conduct of research work in an accessible way, this revised manual is specifically designed for undergraduate students, to guide them in the systematic gathering of data, analysis of results and the formulation of conclusion derived from research. It also seeks to upgrade the competencies of research mentors in succoring students in the conduct of the whole spectrum of project based on their acquired skills through classroom discussion, generation and distillation of innovative ideas, up to the defense of worthy research output before their predecessors. In writing the manual, the authors have put forward the basic techniques in the preparation of thesis and feasibility studies in the form of outlined messages rather than a summary of textbook style.
Ramos, Myrna F., Santarin, Aurora , Servida, Nieves G. 1992. Manual in business mathematics exclusively for College of Secretarial Administration students.
The content of this manual is a comprehensive array of lessons ranging from the concepts of checking the basic operations; the concepts of fraction and decimals and their operations; to the topics on ratio, proportions, percent, measurements and problem solving. Lessons are presented in simple, true-to-life situations that facilitate comprehension and make learning interesting. It also features a series of its orientation toward values. The Christian dimension is incorporated through word problems that imply spiritual and moral challenges. Lesson openers promote the positive outlook and ethical beliefs and situational examples drawn from the Filipino experience are set in the context of nationalism and nationhood

The Environmental User Fee System in the Laguna Lake : A Policy Assessment
Environmental pricing through the idea of "user fees" is relatively new to the Philippines. The Environmental User Fee System (EUFS) is the first environmental pricing scheme in the country which was implemented at the Laguna Lake . This study supported the view that the EUFS was effective in lowering pollution levels in the Lake . Also, it was effective in generating much needed funding for its implementing agency, the Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA). However, the policy was not totally significant as far as fish production, dissolved oxygen and net primary productivity if various tributaries and lake sampling stations were concerned. This suggests that there were other factors, beside the policy, that affect these variables present in the Lake .
