Edmundo “Dodo” Fernandez, FSC, during the Brother Visitor’s Joint Pastoral Assembly held at the Angelo King Medical Research Center on Jan. 16, enlightens and gives DLSU-D and De La Salle-Health Sciences Campus academic communities a deeper understanding of St. John Baptist De La Salle’s mission, the history of De La Salle in the Philippines, Lasallian terms, the Philippine District, and the key concepts of the Lasallian Mission.

Protomartir joins SSEAYP

Highlights:
Student Development and Activities Coordinator and National Service Training Program faculty Ethel Protomartir joined the recently concluded 33rd Ship for Southeast Asian Youth Program (SSEAYP).
She was one of the 27 selected young leaders to represent the country in the program. Together with 310 delegates from 10 ASEAN countries, namely Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and Japan, Protomartir and the rest of the KAISA embarked on a two-month cruise on board the Japanese luxury liner Nippon Maru.

DLSU-D helps Reming victims in Bicol

Highlights:
Through the Lasallian Community Development Center (LCDC), Faculty Association, and representatives from the College of Liberal Arts and the Campus Ministry Office, DLSU-D conducted a relief operation for victims of super typhoon Reming on Dec. 16-18, 2006. Reming lashed through the country and left thousands of homeless families in Bicol in November 2006.
About 1,500 families in the towns of Polangui and Guinobatan in Albay were given family pack relief goods. Likewise, 350 children were also given toys and other goodies as Christmas gifts.

Full time Accountancy faculty Mary May Eulogio was named Young Achiever in Education for 2006 by the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA) during the Annual Convention held recently at the Waterfront Hotel in Cebu City.
PICPA gives annual recognition to outstanding certified public accountants in the four career fields of accountancy such as Commerce and Industry, Public Practice, Government Service, and Education.

Highlights:
The Cavite Studies Center, Museo de La Salle, Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo, and the Institutional Communication Office, in cooperation with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts, conducted a Filipino-Mexican forum on Nov. 18 at the Luis Aguado viewing room.
The forum featured speeches from Dr. Lothar Knauth from the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City and Michael Manalo from University of Santo Tomas.
