Highlights:
The Filipino unit of the Languages & Literature Department is now an independent department under the College of Liberal Arts. Now known as the "Kagawaran ng Filipino at Panitikan," the newly formed department shall focus on the development of the Filipino language and literature not only in DLS-D, but also in the region. KFP is chaired by Dr. Myrna Torreliza.

In a memo released by Br. Edmundo Fernandez FSC dated March 18, 2004, the Board of Trustees of De La Salle-Dasmariñas appointed Dr. Estrellita Valeros-Gruenberg as the new Executive Vice President for a period of one year, from May 16, 2004 - May 15, 2005.
Dr. Gruenberg's thrusts for SY 2004-2005 are: (1) accreditation of programs in the Graduate of School of Education, Arts and Sciences and of the undergraduate programs like Bachelors of Science in Criminology, Agribusiness and Hotel and Restaurant Management; (2) intensification of formation programs for faculty, staff, students, alumni and parents; (3) strengthening of research, publications and local and foreign linkages; (4) wider participation in community service with emphasis on youth at risk, and, (5) the development of the Cultural Heritage Complex.

Languages and Literature Department faculty Dr. Teresita Pareja and Student Admissions Office Director Juanito Cabanias delivered their papers on reading and literature during the international conference in literature on Feb. 1-3 at the Ateneo de Manila University (AdMU).
Entitled “Reading Asia, Forging Identities in Literature: Policy, Research, and Practice,” the conference looks into Asia’s reading experience—what Asia reads, the forms in which literature flowers, Asia’s interests on the literary scene, and the analogues of culture, politics, and the postcolonial struggle that Asia gleans from literature.
